I became homeless after I got out of the Army and began walking twenty plus miles each day to look for work. Although I wasn't having much luck finding a job, I soon realized how much hiking and being outdoors seemed to improve my symptoms of PTSD. One evening, as I was walking along the train tracks between towns, I decided to walk across America with hopes that it would cure my depression and anxiety. Within the next two months, I was on the move. As time went on, I began supporting various charities to help keep me motivated. I slowly became obsessed with it and refused to stop until my knees finally collapsed at my 10,000th mile. After traveling alone and unsupported for three years and crossing the country three times, I was diagnosed with cancer and decided to write a book about my journey.

My book was originally published on July 4, 2017, but has been completely rewritten and was republished on February 13, 2020. Written as if telling a friend over a campfire, my story will take you by the hand to show you everything I went through, without any shame or filters. It's brutally honest, open, and engaging-- a crazy, wild ride that will have your knees aching by the time you reach the end.
