About the Author

Lynda Hacker Araoz spent years trying to find help for her son who was addicted to heroin.Her story mirrors that of so many families trying to navigate their way through chaos on the home front and frustration with the treatment system. Upon her son's recovery, she turned her attention to reaching out to others to reduce the stigma surrounding addiction, advocate for better treatment options and provide support for other families experiencing the impact of addiction. She has a master's degree in Social Work and English and has worked as a teacher, adolescent therapist, and special education director.
