What does it feel like to be a caregiver?

It's kind of like coming to a road, looking both ways--and then getting hit by a plane!

For more than thirty years, I've been a caregiver for my wife through a medical nightmare that continues to bring new challenges--often daily. As she experienced surgery #80 in January 2018, this journey shows no signs of slowing down. Along the way, I've had ample time to make virtually every mistake one can make as a caregiver.

Through this journey and through all the mistakes, I've also gained hard-won wisdom and experienced teachable lessons on the challenges, predicaments, and heartache of the caregiver. My passion through my books and my syndicated radio program for caregivers is to provide fellow caregivers a well-lit path towards safety where they can catch their breath and take a knee if required. From there, I offer easy ways to help caregivers better navigate the difficult and often dangerous path of caring for a loved one with an impairment.

For more than thirty years, Peter Rosenberger has personally traveled the path of the family caregiver. Through this journey, Peter discovered a caregiver can not only survive, but thrive in the midst of oftentimes grim circumstances. In an unparalleled journey with his wife Gracie, he has navigated a medical nightmare that mushroomed to 80 major operations. Furthermore, Gracie suffered the amputation of both legs, as well as enduring dozens of additional procedures. These difficult experiences led Peter to work with more than 80 treating physicians in 12 hospitals and 7 medical insurance companies. All of this caused medicals bills soaring to more than $10 million. Through his journey, Peter developed a firm grasp of the healthcare issues faced by families with disabilities. He currently resides in Nashville, TN.
