"My grandson was very scared of sleeping in his room and of the dark. After reading Fred and Mia’s story several times, he started talking about his new friend, George. He showed us where George slept and wanted to us to talk to him too. For over a month, he put an extra pillow in his bed and would make sure no one got near George. He would go willingly to his room for naptime and bedtime. We would hear him giggling and talking then praying for his family here, his Papa and for Fred and Mia. Then he would go to sleep!!
Fred and Mia have been a big help during his Father’s deployment. He is now able to sleep in his room and isn’t worried or anxious about the darkness because he wants to be brave like Mia was. Thank you so much for writing such an endearing story that every child and adult can relate to. You have captured the problem perfectly and I love the resolution of Fred leaving to help others. Great story and wonderful illustrations that make it a book that will be in our family for a very long time.
