The key to successful books (and by that I mean lots of people buying your book!) is in the research that goes into it prior to writing one damn word. Yes - RESEARCH. Ugh. You’re either a lover, or hater, of research. I was in the latter camp. I now know it’s the necessary FIRST STEP before ONE WORD comes out of my fingertips.

If you're just starting out or have been writing for sometime and are seeing little-to-no monetary return for your hours and hours of writing - read this book. I’m qualified to give this advice because this is what happened to me over the past nine years - until recently.

Look, I know - it’s much more fun to be writing, and creating plot twists and turns. Or for the “how-to” authors, it’s exhilarating to show and help others how to do this, that, and the other.

But what isn’t fun is feeling like your work is a load of crap because it’s not selling. If the product you are creating (or have created) is a load of crap, it will not sell to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

So how do you make sure that what you are writing is NOT going to be a worthless load of crap and maybe - just maybe - the next best seller? Please understand that I’m not saying your book is full of bad stuff (i.e. crap). What I’m saying is it might as well be, if no one wants to buy and read it.

We all start out writing with good intentions, fully convinced (guessing, more like), that what we’re writing about will fill the needs and desires of hungry buyers who are waiting breathlessly for our books. The sad fact is they aren’t sitting around waiting, and if your book is not full of targeted information that they are expecting, you know - full of research that you spent time doing, prior to going to press - then your book isn’t going anywhere. You need to do your prep work.

I’m not talking about organizing chapters, researching content etc. I’m talking about prep work in the form of MARKET research before you even begin typing!

How do you write a book that will sell? And that, my writer friend, is the $60,000 question.

If you've got lackluster sales, you have got to recognize that there is a pattern here. The pattern-repeat problem is: The putting out of a book, hoping for the best, then creating a website for the book, doing Facebook posts. But that’s NOT the problem. So what is? Hint: RESEARCH prior to writing, or lack thereof. So the big question is, “If you know you have been guilty of doing this, then what exactly have have you done differently to prevent the pattern-repeat?” If the answer is nothing, then you’re at the right place to turn this ship around.

  • We have to STOP jumping into new projects with our fingers crossed. 
  • We have to STOP wishing and hoping that “This book will be the one to bring home the bacon and stop my relatives from ridiculing me.”
  • We have to STOP berating ourselves when the book sales fall flat.

But research is boring - or it USED TO BE. I’ll show you how to make it FUN with cool tools and tips from the pros.
