From the Author

On April 6, 2015, my beloved husband of twenty-three years took his own life. I'd had no warning. His sudden departure was utterly shocking and devastating, and in truth, almost annihilated me. My grief journal which would become the cornerstone of this book, along with reading scores of books within the first five months on grief and loss, became my salvation. My journal was a way for me to acknowledge and release my emotions, and other's books about how they had survived their own profound loss bolstered me and instilled within me a sense of courage and a "knowing" that I too could and would survive mine. Without question, the writing of Love Loss Light was extremely healing and cathartic. That said, although my husband ended his own life, my story is not about suicide or even being a suicide survivor per se, but a depiction of my step-by-step journey through profound loss. Writing my story is my way of sharing with others the many blessings that were bestowed upon me while on my quest to heal my shattered heart and soul and ultimately led me back to living and loving life again. I wrote it with the fervent wish that if but one of those blessings could give someone even one measure of comfort as they walk their own, unique path, then I will have learned my lessons well and my husband will not have died in vain. Understanding that no journey through grief and loss is the same, each blessings acts as a guidepost that can inform another's journey and help them along their way. Additionally, Love Loss Light is peppered throughout with meaningful poetry and quotes that touched me deeply as I healed and that I believe will resonate with my readers.

I would like to invite book clubs to read my story. It would be my privilege to visit with you either in person or via Skype to share a deeper, more enriching dialogue about my process through grief and grieving. I would be honored to be given the opportunity to provide further aid and comfort in whatever capacity that I can, to others who are currently suffering or have suffered profound loss.

Love Loss Light is my first published book. I am currently in the process of working on my second book, From Grief to Purpose---an anthology of stories featuring individuals who after having suffered profound loss, and against all odds, discovered renewed meaning in their lives by transforming their grief into deeds that are changing the world and people's lives in beautiful and meaningful ways.
