This newly revised edition to The Clinical and Forensic Assessment of Psychopath: A Clinician's Guide brings new chapters on psychopathy in women, brain imaging, assessment and treatment in schools, and more, in addition to the updated original chapters. With its in-depth research on psychopathy, accumulating findings from over the past 40 years and applying them to procedures and methods, it is essential for all of those who face mental health, correctional, or court settings. This edition is an excellent resource for experienced professionals and their trainees, as well as students who need a go-to book between the research and practice on the assessing of psychopathy.
Review
Up to date, encyclopedic in coverage, informed by top experts in the field, yet easily accessible for the working clinician, Clinical and Forensic Assessment of Psychopathy is a handbook in the best sense of the word: suitable for multidimensional evaluation, description, and understanding psychopathic children, adolescents, and adults. Chapters on the “lived experience” and criminal lifestyle of psychopathic personalities are unprecedented in the forensic literature. The contributions on “Clinical Issues and Applications” are superb.―Marvin W. Acklin, PhD, ABAP, ABPP, Independent Clinical & Forensic Practice, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Dr. Gacono has brought together a stellar group of experts to produce a fresh revision of his classic Clinician’s Guide to assessment of psychopathy. New topics, important updates; it's all here for the practitioner. Clinicians, law enforcement and judicial professionals, and the general public almost always misunderstand these people; this second edition will go a long way toward educating and illuminating our colleagues with the latest on the subject.―William H. Reid, M.D., M.P.H., Forensic psychiatrist, Author, The Psychopath: A Comprehensive Study of Antisocial Disorders and Behaviors
